The Office of Adult Literacy is
seeking an experienced, certified ESL teacher. Classes are
taught Monday & Wednesday evenings from 6-9 PM in Amsterdam.
Teachers are compensated at $21 per hour.
Instruction includes reading, writing,
listening and speaking skills. Instructors must be familiar with
adult learning theories and instructional techniques. Ten hours
of related staff development are required each year.
Teachers must be certified by NYS
Department of Education in English as a Second Language.
Alternately, experienced ESL instructors without NYS
certification in ESL must demonstrate competence, as well as
apply and be granted an adult educator certificate. Related
certifications, combined with experience, may also be
considered. Fingerprinting is required to teach with HFM BOCES.
