Taking the
next step
HFM Transition Information Night helps prepare students
with disabilities and their parents for life after high
school.
Transition
Information Night, an evening of interactive
presentations and networking for families of students
with disabilities, will be held on Tuesday, Jan.13, in
the HealthLink Conference Room at the Fulton County
YMCA. The free program runs from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
The program emphasizes students' next step to life after
high school, enabling parents to learn about available
services and how parents and the school can work
together to help prepare the student for the transition.
Layna Maher, from the New York State Commission on
Quality of Care and Advocacy for Persons with
Disabilities, will speak about IEP development, the
school’s role in transition, and what agencies can
assist you and your child.
Parents will have the opportunity to meet with other
parents in the transition process and speak with
professionals who can assist and support their child in
the transition process. For more information, contact
Julianne Brown, HFM BOCES Transition Counselor at
736-4356.
