Congratulations on a job well done!
Eileen Pollock retires from HFM BOCES after 27
years of service.
More
than 75 friends and co-workers celebrated the career of Eileen
Pollock at a retirement party in her honor at Fox Run Golf and
Country Club. Mrs. Pollock has spent the past 27 years as senior
typist of the HFM BOCES Instructional Resource Center.
Mrs. Pollock has been the voice on the phone
that helped teachers order the materials they needed for their
classrooms.
She managed the paper catalog until the
transition to the online catalog, and now enters data, updates
borrower information, and books materials for teachers.
She oversaw the courier service and, in the
past, the microfilming service. Eileen recommended materials to
purchase or weed out, based on her knowledge of the collection
and teacher's needs. “She has been my right-hand
woman,” said Coordinator for Instructional Technology and
Information Resource Services Deborah Booth. “Eileen ran the
daily operations of the IRC.” Speakers at the
party included HFM BOCES District Superintendent Dr. Geoffrey
Davis, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Lorry Hohenforst, CSEA Union
President Kris Walker, Northville Central School’s Library Media
Specialist Sharon Marie Perrella, and Ms. Booth. They all
attested to Mrs. Pollock’s work ethic and her loyalty to BOCES.
Their
comments reflected on the impact she has had on so many people
through her years at HFM BOCES. “Eileen has
always shown an enormous level of caring for her friends and
co-workers,” said HFM Library Media Specialist Edie Willcox.
“She is always willing to lend a hand when someone is in need,
be it work related or in their personal life. That’s something
we are all grateful for.” Whatever needed to be
done or learned, Mrs. Pollock did it, according to Ms. Booth.
Her commitment to providing teachers and students with the
quality instructional materials they needed has been evident
every day. “I can
tell you that I am not looking forward to December 31,” said Ms.
Booth. “That’s Eileen’s last official day with us. It will be
very difficult to find someone with her dedication.” |
