Students encouraged to register now for HFM BOCES Regional
Summer School
Registration scheduled in home school districts through
June 24
Students planning to attend HFM BOCES Regional Summer School
should register now in their home districts to ensure their best
course selection and schedule. Registration will continue
through June 24, with a final, late registration day at
Johnstown High School on June 29 from 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
According to HFM BOCES Assistant Superintendent Dr. Lorraine
Hohenforst, advanced registration is important to assess class
sizes and prepare for the summer session.
“Waiting until the late registration date will not benefit
anyone, particularly the students, Dr. Hohenforst said.
“Students could easily miss the opportunity to take a course
they need for graduation.”
The regional summer school will be held at Johnstown High
School, beginning Wednesday, July 1. There will be three
sessions per day, from 7:30-9:30 a.m., 9:30-11:30 a.m., and
11:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m. No classes are held on Fridays. Regents
exams will be administered Aug. 12-14.
Amsterdam, Broadalbin-Perth, Canajoharie, Fort Plain,
Gloversville, Johnstown, Northville, and St. Johnsville have
contracted to participate in the regional summer school.
Students in grades 9-12 from the eight participating school
districts should register now through June 24 in their home
district.
A student’s eligibility for summer school is based on guidelines
established by his or her home school district. Parents are
encouraged to check for attendance and grade eligibility
requirements, and register their child in their home district.
Students who live in a non-participating district may attend
summer school if their parents or guardians make arrangements
directly with a participating district. Parents would be
required to pay $70 per course for tuition.
Students who failed a Regents exam and want to retake the test
without participating in summer school must still register in
advance for that specific exam and communicate their intention
to take the Regents exam in August. Students from a
non-participating district may also register through a
participating district, and pay $12 per Regents exam when
offered in August.
