GED and ESL
classes registering new students in Sept.
HFM BOCES classes offered in multiple locations
HFM BOCES will offer several options for area adults, age 21
and older, who want to improve their English language
skills, as well as prepare for the GED exam. A few openings
will be available for individuals age 18 - 20 who are no
longer enrolled in school.
English as a Second Language (ESL) classes will be offered
mornings and evenings in Amsterdam. GED classes will be
offered mornings in Amsterdam and Gloversville, and evenings
in Amsterdam. A new location for evening classes in
Gloversville is being planned.
New ESL students must attend one orientation session. During
this time students will learn about the program, register
and participate in assessment. It is important that students
arrive on time and plan to stay for the full three hours.
Registration and classes will be held at the following

Mondays & Wednesdays, 9 a.m. – noon (beginner class)
Tuesdays & Thursdays, 9 a.m. – noon (intermediate class)
Registration: September 14 and 15, 9 a.m. to noon

Trinity Lutheran Church
40 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam
Mondays & Wednesdays, 6 – 9 p.m.
Registration: September 8 and 14, 6 - 9 p.m.
New GED students must attend both days of a two day
orientation. During this time students will learn about the
program, register and participate in assessment. It is
important that students arrive on time and plan to stay for
the full three hours.

Riverfront Center, Amsterdam
Mondays & Wednesdays, 9 a.m. – noon, or 6 - 9 p.m.
Registration: Monday, Aug. 31 and Wednesday, Sept. 2.
(Registration for morning classes runs from 9 a.m. - noon.
Registration for the evening classes is from 6 - 9 p.m.)

Tuesdays & Thursdays, 9 a.m. – noon
Registration: Tuesday and Thursday, Sept. 8 and 10, from 9
a.m. to noon.
Independent Study
An independent study option is also available to prepare for the
GED for adults age 21 and older who read minimally at a grade 9
level, are able to work independently, and can exchange
assignment packets every two weeks at HFM BOCES. Internet access
and an email address is necessary. Students are accepted into
the program every eight weeks.
Demand has been high for GED classes through HFM BOCES and
seating is limited in each class, so students must call the
office prior to the first registration session to reserve a seat. Students should call 736-4340 or
email
spodolec@hfmboces.org to reserve a seat and get
additional registration information. Voicemail is available
24 hours a day. Please provide your name, age, mailing
