The superintendency at Wells Central School presents
unique, but rewarding challenges. Candidates must be
prepared to offer strong leadership in a rural,
small-school setting that takes great pride in the
academic performance of its students.
As is typical in districts of this size, the
superintendent is called upon to manage the
instructional program, the finance/business management
of the district, and the day-to-day discipline of
students.
There are tremendous opportunities for quality
interpersonal interactions with all members of the
school community: students, parents, faculty, board
members and the community at-large.
Wells Central School enjoys the highest graduation rate
in the region, and strives through a shared
responsibility with students, faculty, parents and
administration to maintain a culture of commitment to
character education and academic excellence where all
students can achieve the highest standards in education
and conduct. [more]

More About Wells Central School
District
Wells
Central School is a PreK-12 district located approximately 30
miles north of Gloversville, NY on Route 30. The school, with a
current enrollment of approximately 170 students, is located in
a beautiful
setting outside the Village of Wells, a hamlet in southern
Hamilton County.
Through direct instruction and distance learning, a full
curriculum is offered to all students, including those who
attend on a tuition basis from the neighboring communities of
Lake Pleasant and Piseco, which do not offer high school
programs.
The
district has traditionally enjoyed solid community support of
its programs and activities.
Historically a four-season vacationland, Wells offers lakes,
streams and mountains that provide abundant opportunities for
hiking, hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities. Route 30
is a well-maintained major thoroughfare, providing ready access
year-round to the small cities of Gloversville and Johnstown.
Glens Falls and Lake George are readily accessible via Route 8.
While
Wells is a rural community, it is in close proximity to higher
education opportunities. Fulton-Montgomery Community College is
located 45 minutes to the south, and Adirondack Community
College, SUNY Albany, SUNY IT, Union College, Skidmore College,
The College of St. Rose, and Siena College are all within a
two-hour drive.
